Size matters. Whoever thought initially that only the huge and the large matter should reconsider and begin to be more open-minded and receive a concept that is exactly the opposite. While there is truth to that statement, it is not entirely what it is and does not mean absolutely true in all settings.
Plants come in variety of sizes, height and width. The Red Sequoia Tree or the Redwood is the world’s tallest. It stands tall among all the rest of the trees in the forest and is also bound to live longer than most organisms. The oak tree is known for its longevity and its ability to withstand the test of time as well as the weather challenges. The bamboo, not belonging to the tree family, however, commands respect as it sways to and fro no matter how strong the wind may be.
Yet, in all of these, whatever their role in the ecosystem may be, all of them had a humble beginning. At a certain point in their lives, they came from a small entity—that is, a seed.
Seeds come in variety of sizes and colors. Some look dainty, others look weird. Some are edible, others are too toxic to eat. All in all seeds are anything and everywhere as long as there are plants and trees around. They are tiny instruments through which the continuity of the species lies. Seeds contain inside the entire code that is necessary to begin a new life that has all the necessary information about the characteristic of that particular species. In other words, the seeds have the direct link into the future of that particular species.
While seeds have that potential, the potential of the seed is not judged by its size nor by its appearance. The largest trees that you can see around started out from this tiny thing that looks so unbecoming yet has it all to start another one just as mighty and strong as the original one.
Even in life, in general, not just among trees, the tiny things around should not be taken for granted. There are a lot of situations in which those that seem small actually open up to huge opportunities, when discerned early on. The little discipline we do everyday, though small and unnoticeable, lead to character and attitude that bring us to brighter tomorrow. Therefore, its true what they say, big things come in small packages. So, start appreciating small things life, they may be all you need to see the much larger horizon that’s waiting just beyond the next turn.
